Bachelor's in Software Engineering

McMaster University is a public institution located in Hamilton, Ontario, founded in 1887. It has additional campuses in Burlington, Kitchener-Waterloo, Niagara, and downtown Hamilton. The university offers six main academic divisions including engineering, health sciences, humanities, science, social sciences, and the DeGroote School of Business. The university also has a unique arts and science program that offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate experience. McMaster has over 60 research centers and institutes, including a nuclear reactor used for research. One-fifth of Albert Einstein's brain is even stored in one of the university's labs for neuroscientific study.

Computing is used to solve problems, manage information, create smart technologies, explore the world, and connect to other people. Software engineers master the fundamentals of engineering like their colleagues, but specialize in the design and development of computer systems and software. McMaster Software Engineering programme prepares students for a career in a rapidly changing field by emphasising fundamental design principles, material that will still be useful and valid three decades from today. Students learn to apply basic mathematics and science (including relevant Computer Science), as well as undertake disciplined testing and simulation to ensure that any system they design will perform its tasks adequately when delivered to a customer for use. Although the students will use current systems in their laboratory work, the lectures stress ideas and techniques of lasting value.
