Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) is a liberal arts and sciences college located in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China. Objectives

The e-Business Management and Information System (EBIS) Programme has an elite teaching team with great teaching skill, strong research ability, and international vision. The team members are from Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, the United States, and Canada, and all have doctorates from prestigious overseas universities. This programme mainly cultivates compound talents who understand both business management and information technology. We train students to be proficient in the use of information technology and business analysis skills in a big data environment. Students are required to conduct scientific analysis and research on all kinds of massive information, based on data mining, decision analysis, and business analytics, combined with cross-field analysis professional courses. This programme emphasizes the enhancement of students’ creativity and problem-solving abilities and uses the results of big data analytics to mine effective information to help the e-commerce industry collect data points, create market opportunities, accurately describe and even predict consumer behavior, and assist companies in scientific decision-making.

Curriculum Design

Students of the EBIS programme will learn the design, development, operation and promotion of e-commerce platforms, enterprise information systems, database management, mobile computing, social media, platform-based big data analytics, information security and privacy protection, and maintenance of corporate network and data security. This programme not only delivers professional knowledge systematically, but also emphasizes actual business practice. Through a large number of corporate case discussions and commercial project practice, students of this programme are equipped with profound system development and management capabilities, comprehensive business management capabilities, strategic markets insight, and entrepreneurial ability.

Prospect of Employment

The core logic of the EBIS programme is "business + technology". There exists a huge gap in high-quality talents in related programmes and industries. The prospects of employment for graduates are very broad, which can be summarized in the following six directions:

• Direction 1: Work in the position of product design, data analytics, market operation, and maintenance at platform-based internet companies or IT product technology companies, such as Bytedance, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, Google, etc. Related positions include algorithm engineers, user experience designers, data analysts, product managers, operations experts, etc.

• Direction 2: Work at online to offline (O2O) or vertically subdivided internet companies specialized in product design, operations, advertising, and consumer big-data analytics, such as Didi, Meituan, Dianping, Ctrip, Soufang, Airbnb etc. Related positions include algorithm engineers, user experience designers, data analysts, product managers, channel managers, and operations experts, etc.

• Direction 3: Work in the information technology department or data science department of large enterprises in various industries that is responsible for information system design, management, database management and maintenance, product design, market analysis, project management, data analytics, etc. Related industries include banking, financial institutions, telecommunications, logistics, manufacturing, etc. Related positions include IT engineer, system engineer, product manager, data scientist, market analyst, etc.

• Direction 4: Work for technical project, project analysis, and consulting at technology consulting companies such as IBM, Accenture, McKinsey, etc.

• Direction 5: Engage in market consulting analysis, industry analysis, and other investment work in IT and technology venture capital funds, private equity, or investment banks, such as Goldman Sachs, IDG Capital, Sequoia Capital, etc.

• Direction 6: Join government agencies or other traditional enterprises to engage in the development, operation and maintenance of new mobile Internet business models and social media, such as real estate, media, retail, and advertising.

Prospect of Postgraduate Studies

According to our historical records, our graduates have a rate of around 70% for pursuing postgraduates abroad. Most of them are successfully admitted to the QS Top-100 oversea universities. International Higher Education

The college has established the Divisions of Business and Management, Culture and Creativity, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, in addition to the Graduate School. Altogether UIC offers 28 undergraduate programmes, and is approved to offer nine research and five taught postgraduate programmes for over 7,000 students. Undergraduates receive HKBU Bachelor's Degrees and UIC Graduation Certificates, and postgraduates earn HKBU degrees.
