Bachelor in Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering (JMD)

The major of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering is built on the deep integration of next-generation information and communication technologies with advanced manufacturing technologies. It spans all aspects of manufacturing activities, including design, production, management, and service, and addresses the entire product lifecycle. This field enables information-driven, agile manufacturing under ubiquitous sensing conditions, while creating new manufacturing methods and equipment with capabilities for self-perception, self-learning, self-decision-making, self-execution, and self-adaptation. The intelligent manufacturing technology system is distinctly multidisciplinary, integrating fields such as intelligent perception, human-computer interaction, machine decision-making, and execution technology. These elements collectively enhance the intelligence of the design-manufacturing process and manufacturing equipment, representing a deep convergence of information technology, intelligent technologies, and equipment manufacturing technology. The Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering major aims to meet the strategic needs of global manufacturing industry as it undergoes digitalization, networking, and intelligent transformation. The program adheres to the educational philosophy of "a solid foundation, strong practical experience, and high quality," with the goal of cultivating interdisciplinary, high-level engineering professionals. These graduates will possess scientific thinking and humanistic qualities, mastering the core theories and professional knowledge related to intelligent manufacturing engineering to meet the evolving needs of the manufacturing sector in the new era. Graduates of the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering major will be equipped to engage in technical research, product development, production, operation and maintenance, scientific research, teaching, and production line management, all within the context of intelligent manufacturing. They will have the ability to innovate new processes, equipment, and products, and will master the essential engineering knowledge and comprehensive technical literacy required for the design, development, installation, commissioning, control, and application of intelligent manufacturing technologies and equipment, including intelligent production lines.

ECUST devotes itself to develop international cooperation and has established long-term and extensive academic exchanges and joint training cooperation with more than 200 universities, colleges, enterprises, and research institutions from all over the world, including the United States, Germany, Britain, France, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Australia, etc.

Academics:

It has a strong tradition of working with industries. The university is now developing into a multi-disciplinary higher educational institution with a balanced curriculum of science, engineering, economics, management, law, humanities, and arts spread across 15 academic schools.

The university offers 13 first level and 81 second-level doctoral programs, 25 first level, and 147 second-level master programs and 65 undergraduate programs. The total number of full-time students has reached around 24,140, including 15,460 undergraduates, 7,110 postgraduates studying for master's degrees, and 1,570 Ph.D. candidates.

Since 2007 the university has operated an exchange programme with the Technical University of Applied Sciences Lübeck in Germany. ECUST also operates a joint programme with L'École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie in Rennes and a joint business school with the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu in Romania.
