Temple's Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy, offered through the Department of Music Education and Music Therapy, is approved by the American Music Therapy Association and prepares students for entry-level clinical practice. Graduates are eligible to sit for the national Certification Board for Music Therapists exam to become credentialed music therapists. Students choose a primary instrument concentration alongside their music therapy training and complete an extensive block of supervised clinical training, including a dedicated post-graduation clinical placement, before they're considered ready for professional practice.

Temple University sits in North Philadelphia, an hour and a half from New York and two from Washington. It enrols about 37,000 students, 1,200 of them international, and holds R1 status for research activity. Tuition is set by college rather than by programme, so what you pay depends on whether you enter Fox for business, Tyler for art and architecture, or the College of Liberal Arts.

Temple was founded in 1884 as a night school for working Philadelphians, and the idea has stuck: it is a large public research university that still admits broadly. How tuition works

International students pay the full-time annual out-of-state rate for their college, and the spread is wide. Liberal Arts, Education and Social Work sit at $36,600 a year; the Fox School of Business is $45,768 and Tyler's Fine Arts degree $45,720. Engineering, Pharmacy, Public Health and the Boyer College of Music and Dance fall between. Graduate programmes are priced separately, many of them per credit hour.

Philadelphia

The main campus is on the Broad Street subway line, fifteen minutes from Center City. Temple runs its own campuses in Tokyo and Rome, so a semester abroad does not mean leaving the university.
