About Bachelor in BEng in Applied Polymer Engineering

The BEng in Applied Polymer Engineering at THWS trains engineers to bring plastic and rubber products to market across the full process chain, from materials selection through construction, design, processing, production, and recycling. The programme covers both conventional processing methods and topics including 3D printing, fibre-reinforced plastics, computer-aided development, modern analysis methods, and surface treatment technologies. The programme runs over 7 semesters, starting in the winter semester. Foundation modules in the early semesters cover mathematics, physics, material science, engineering mechanics, chemistry, design, machine elements, and basic lab courses. Engineering and polymer-specific modules introduce injection moulding, extrusion, materials science and testing, fibre composite technology and lightweight design, rubber technology, polymer chemistry, automation, digitalisation, production management, sustainability, and recycling. The fifth semester is an internship module completed externally at a company or institute of the student's choice. The programme concludes with a Bachelor's thesis. A dual study option is available in cooperation with THWS, allowing students to combine studies with company employment.
