The Master's programme in Bioinformatics at the University of Potsdam provides the knowledge needed to address the analysis of biological systems alongside data gathered by various technologies. At its core, bioinformatics involves developing techniques for analysing large-scale biological data to understand the organising principles and functions of complex biological systems. Applications include personalised medicine, drug development, and ensuring food quality. The programme runs over four semesters, beginning in the winter semester. It is taught in English and is principally geared towards students with a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, mathematics, or physics. Students with backgrounds in chemistry, pharmacy, or medicine are not the intended audience.
