Biopharmaceutical Processing

Graduates of the Certificate in Biopharmaceutical Processing are positioned for roles in biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical diagnostics, medical device and pharmaceutical companies, including positions such as process technician, quality analyst, and production supervisor.

The programme explores the science and engineering of manufacturing biologics, covering cell culture processing, facility and utility design, downstream protein purification and formulation and fill-finish operations. Students examine process kinetics, bioreactor design, cleanroom standards, chromatography, filtration and aseptic filling.

Delivered as a part-time, 1-year online award, the course combines weekly live lectures with two days of practical training each semester at NIBRT’s training facility in Dublin. In partnership with ATU Sligo and NIBRT, the award carries 30 credits at Level 7.
