Biyosistem Mühendisliği

This program applies engineering principles to biological systems used in agriculture, food production, and natural resource management. Students study areas such as machinery design, irrigation and drainage systems, structures for agricultural production, and the processing of biological materials, combining core engineering coursework with biology and environmental science. The curriculum typically includes mathematics, mechanics, and systems design alongside applied subjects like farm mechanization, water resource management, and renewable energy applications in agriculture. Laboratory and project-based work allow students to design and evaluate systems that support efficient and sustainable use of land, water, and biological resources. Graduates go on to work in agricultural equipment and machinery industries, irrigation and water management, food processing engineering, and environmental or natural resource planning, with some pursuing further study in engineering or environmental sciences. This bachelor program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, a state institution located in Niğde, Turkey. The program's interdisciplinary structure suits students interested in applying technical and engineering skills to real-world challenges in agriculture and the broader bio-based economy.
