The BSc in Information Engineering at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences prepares students to understand, specify, design, and maintain complex information processing systems, with comprehensive coverage of software, hardware, and information technology. The programme covers mathematical foundations, signal and system theory, electrical engineering and electronics, digital systems, software construction, computer science, and advanced engineering topics. The seven-semester programme accepts students for both winter and summer semesters. The first four semesters build foundational and intermediate knowledge, including mathematics, electrical engineering, electronics, software construction, and digital systems. The fifth semester is an industrial placement of 20 weeks. Semesters six and seven cover operating systems, bus systems and sensors, digital signal processing, digital communication systems, and elective specialisation projects, culminating in a Bachelor's thesis. Non-technical modules covering economics and management, intercultural competence, and German language are integrated throughout. The programme is taught in person only.
