Stepping into the Seneca Centre for Innovation in Life Sciences (SCILS), you immediately encounter the intersection of high-level chemistry and modern consumer artistry. This Bachelor of Science in Cosmetic Science is the first degree of its kind in Canada, specifically engineered to bridge the gap between rigorous scientific inquiry and the fast-paced, creative demands of the global beauty and personal care industry.

This three-year, hybrid-delivery program moves beyond basic theory to immerse you in the actual mechanics of product development. You will work within state-of-the-art pharmaceutical labs to master the formulation of everything from foundational skin care to complex colour cosmetics. The curriculum is built on a dual-pillar approach:

• Core Scientific Foundations: Deep dives into organic and analytical chemistry, alongside the anatomy and physiology of skin, hair, and nails.
• Industry Application: Practical training in raw material research, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance, all while applying a critical lens to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in product design.

By studying how to create products that are truly inclusive of all skin tones, genders, and ages, you graduate with a modern, ethical, and highly technical toolkit. With a mandatory work term providing at least 420 hours of real-world experience, you will build the professional network and technical confidence required to transition directly into roles like formulation chemist, regulatory affairs associate, or R&D specialist.
