Bachelor in Licensed Practical Nurse Access to Psychiatric Nursing (Bachelor of Science) | BSPNUR_L

Canada Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Graduates of this program emerge as Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) equipped to lead and provide specialized care within the complex landscape of mental health and substance use. By bridging existing practical nursing expertise, this pathway empowers professionals to step into advanced clinical roles, leadership positions, and community-based mental health services throughout British Columbia.

Designed for Working Professionals

This 1.5-year, part-time program is specifically engineered for currently licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who wish to advance their careers without stepping away from their current employment. The curriculum is delivered primarily online, providing the flexibility to study from your home community. The program structure includes a concentrated, one-week in-person residency during the fourth semester and concludes with a final 360-hour preceptorship, which can be completed within your local B.C. health region.

The program is distinct for its focus on the intersection of psychiatric theory and clinical application. Students gain mastery in therapeutic relationships, trauma-informed care, and psychiatric nursing management, ensuring they are fully prepared to write the Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Canada Examination upon completion.
