Building Engineering Technology (Mechanical Building Systems)

This programme trains students to design, install, and maintain mechanical systems in buildings. Work includes heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, and automated control systems. The focus is on comfort, safety, and energy efficiency in indoor spaces. Two paid work terms are part of the programme, offering real-world experience before graduation.

Courses cover thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, building systems, and energy management. Industry-standard software is used, and labs simulate real building conditions. Instructors are professionals with private sector experience. Projects reflect actual job tasks.

Admission is only for the fall session, starting in January per the SRAM calendar. The programme is at Collège Ahuntsic in Montreal. Graduates have a 96% job placement rate and 31% continue to university. The programme suits students seeking hands-on training in building systems technology.
