Bachelor in Child Development

İstanbul, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Child Development studies the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of children from infancy through adolescence. Coursework typically covers developmental psychology, early childhood education, family studies, observation methods, and child health, preparing students to support healthy development in educational and care settings. Students learn to assess developmental milestones and design age-appropriate activities and interventions for children at different stages of growth. The curriculum also addresses play-based learning, family dynamics, and the role of early experiences in shaping later development, giving students a broad view of the factors that influence a child's growth. Coursework in observation methods trains students to document and interpret children's behavior systematically, a skill used across childcare and educational settings. Practical placements and case studies expose students to real classroom and care environments, reinforcing theoretical coursework with applied experience. Graduates commonly pursue careers in early childhood education, childcare centers, family support services, and children's health programs, and many continue toward further graduate study in developmental psychology or education. This program is offered as a bachelor's degree taught in English over a duration of 4 years at Istanbul Gelişim University in İstanbul, Turkey Small-group instruction and applied coursework throughout the program give students regular opportunities to work directly with faculty and refine their skills before entering the workforce.
