About Master in Civil engineering

This Master's program in Civil Engineering at Poznan University of Technology in Poznań, Poland is taught in English and runs across three semesters, roughly one and a half years of full-time study. During the admission test, applicants select a preferred specialization, either Structural Engineering or Construction Technology and Management, though choosing a specialization does not guarantee placement in it. The program aims to prepare graduates with second-cycle university education who can explore, execute, and apply innovation in civil engineering through a systems approach that spans information, energy, communication, and transport systems. The course structure moves through three stages: the first semester focuses on identifying areas for innovation, the second semester on generating and testing innovation options, and the third semester on carrying those innovations through to completion. The curriculum is developed in cooperation with construction-industry leaders, including international corporations and small and medium enterprises, with an emphasis on solving practical, real-world problems. Paid summer internships in construction technology are available during the course. Students work in international teams, with past cohorts including participants from the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Poland. Graduates are prepared either to join partner enterprises, whether corporations or smaller firms, or to continue into PhD-level study. The program also considers the possibility of students creating spin-off or start-up ventures. Civil engineering as a field covers the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure including buildings, transport systems, and utilities, and graduates typically move into structural design, construction management, or infrastructure planning roles across the public and private sectors.
