PhD in Classics (PhD)

The PhD is divided into stages. In the first two years you attend core seminars, language training and methodological workshops that build a foundation in ancient history, literature and philosophy. After completing these taught components you transition to independent research, developing a thesis proposal and securing a supervisor.

Weekly you will join research seminars, conduct close readings of primary texts, work with archival material, and write drafts for peer review. You may also present findings at conferences and collaborate with faculty on publications. The programme offers specialisation in History, Literature or Philosophy and culminates in a defended thesis.
