The MSc in Cognitive Science at Osnabrück University covers multiple aspects of cognition — perception, attention, memory, learning, problem-solving, reasoning, emotions, and language — in both biological and artificial systems. The programme also addresses complex information processing systems such as teaching systems and spoken-language dialogue systems from a design and implementation perspective, including human-computer interface aspects. The 4-semester programme totals 120 ECTS credits including the thesis, and is open for intake in both the winter and summer semesters. In the second and third semesters students participate in a study project (24 ECTS). The programme is completed with a Master's thesis in the fourth semester (30 ECTS). Students select one or two focus areas from: Cognition: Mind, Ethics, and Society; Cognition: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Cognition: (Computational) Neuroscience; and Cognition: Psychology, Language, and Communication. Each selected focus area carries 20 ECTS of coursework, supplemented by free electives (22 ECTS). The programme is taught in English at Osnabrück University in Osnabrück, Germany.
