Offered in English at Università degli Studi di Palermo in Palermo, Italy, this master's programme focuses on Complex Administrations and Organizations Science, a field concerned with how large and complex organizations, particularly in the public sector, are structured, managed, and governed. The discipline draws on public administration, organizational theory, and management studies to examine how institutions design processes, allocate resources, and coordinate activity across multiple levels and departments. Students typically study organizational behavior, public policy, administrative law, and the theory and practice of managing complex bureaucratic and institutional systems. Coursework often extends to governance structures, decision-making processes within large organizations, human resource management in the public sector, and the challenges of coordinating services across government agencies or multinational institutions. The field also considers how organizations respond to change, from digital transformation to shifting policy priorities, and how administrative systems can be made more efficient and accountable. Graduates pursue careers in public administration, government agencies, regulatory bodies, non-profit organizations, and international institutions, as well as in the administrative and organizational functions of large private companies. Roles commonly held by graduates include policy analyst, administrative manager, organizational consultant, and positions within human resources or institutional planning departments. Palermo, as the capital of Sicily, offers a setting shaped by its own regional administrative institutions and history of public governance. This two-year master's degree, taught in English, is intended for students seeking to understand and manage the complexity of modern administrative and organizational systems, whether in government or large institutional settings.
