Bachelor in Composition

The Composition programme trains composers in instrumental, vocal and mixed (electroacoustic) composition over a three-year first cycle worth 180 ECTS. Teaching combines composition classes with new technologies applied to composition, analysis, orchestration and a set of complementary disciplines, and is led by a core team of three composers, supplemented by visiting composers for new-technologies and electroacoustic classes.

Pieces written by students are performed each year by Conservatoire instrumentalists and by professional performers, through partnerships with ensembles including the Ensemble Intercontemporain, ProQuartet, the Orchestre de Picardie and the Radio France Festival Présences.

Successful completion leads to the Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien (DNSPM) in contemporary musical creation. Students who wish may also obtain, in parallel and via a partnership with Sorbonne-Université, the Bachelor's degree in Music and Musicology — this requires separate enrolment and payment of Sorbonne university fees, on top of the Conservatoire's own registration fee.
