The MSc in Computational Linguistics at the University of Stuttgart offers advanced study in the automatic processing of written and spoken language. Offered by the Institute for Natural Language Processing (IMS) within the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the programme is intended for students from computational linguistics, computer science, general linguistics, and related disciplines. The programme runs over 4 semesters, with start dates in both the winter and summer semesters. Students begin with an intensive foundational class in computational linguistics before choosing among three focus areas: core computational linguistics, applied natural language processing, and speech processing. In the second semester, a team laboratory develops practical skills for collaborative project work. A research module in the third semester prepares students for the Master's thesis in the fourth. Elective modules are offered by IMS and the departments of Computer Science and Linguistics. The programme is taught at the University of Stuttgart in Stuttgart, Germany.
