The Computer Engineering major combines mathematics, physics, communication, and information sciences with hands-on skills in programming and electrical engineering. Students learn to develop innovative, sustainable, and secure solutions to the complex challenges facing digital devices, particularly in rapidly developing areas such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things. The curriculum provides a solid grounding in mathematics, physics, programming, and electrical engineering, together with a comprehensive understanding of computer engineering at both hardware and software levels. Students gain the skills to design technical solutions that integrate hardware engineering and low-level programming, and develop the ability to envision future technological implementations. Practical experience comes through project-based work, which develops project management and teamwork capabilities alongside the research and writing skills needed for further academic study or engagement with industry. The major is a joint effort between Aalto University's School of Science and School of Electrical Engineering. The combined bachelor and master path runs for five years, starting in September 2026.
