About Computerised Systems and Data Quality for Medtech

A standout feature of this Certificate is the Emerging Medtech Software Trends module, which brings industry guest lecturers to discuss AI, VR and machine-learning applications in medical device software. Each week students attend blended workshops where they create and critique validation documents, develop data-integrity procedures and manage small validation projects using real-world case studies. The hands-on approach prepares graduates for roles such as validation engineer, quality engineer or data-integrity specialist in medical device manufacturers or regulated contract laboratories.

The programme runs part-time over one year, combining online lectures with mandatory on-campus workshops at the Galway City campus. Assessment is largely continuous, with two modules evaluated entirely by coursework and the others split between coursework and written exams. Successful completion provides the knowledge required to support regulated software validation and data-quality activities in the rapidly expanding med-tech sector.

  • Four mandatory modules covering data integrity, validation project management, software and automated system validation, and emerging medtech software trends
  • Blended delivery with online lectures and on-campus workshops
  • 25 credit, Level 8 Certificate (equivalent to postgraduate level)
  • Industry-led guest lectures and real-world case studies
