Associate of Arts Degree with a Specialization in Criminology

This programme is for students who want to transfer to a four-year university to continue studies in criminology or related fields. It is designed for those who have completed high school or equivalent and are preparing for further academic work. The programme takes two years of full-time study to complete, with a focus on courses that transfer to major universities in British Columbia.

Students take 60 university transfer credits, including 18 credits in criminology, with at least nine of those at the second-year level. The curriculum includes courses in English, humanities, social sciences, arts, lab science, and math or statistics. Students must complete 50% of their credits at Douglas College and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00. The programme includes a co-operative education option for those who wish to gain work experience.

The programme has a seven-year time limit to complete all requirements. Students must meet with a Student Success Advisor for guidance. Graduates receive an Associate of Arts Degree with a specialization in criminology, which appears on their transcript but not on the credential itself.
