Master in Cyber Security

Cottbus, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Cyber Security at Brandenburg University of Technology is a four-semester scientific master's programme focused on the theoretical and practical foundations of IT security. Rather than covering tool configuration or penetration testing procedures, the programme builds in-depth understanding of how security building blocks work, including the mathematics behind cryptography, so that graduates can design and evaluate new algorithms and approaches to specific cyber threats. The curriculum distinguishes between basic and specialised studies. Basic studies in Cyber Security Basics are mandatory and carry 22 credit points. Specialised studies are divided into compulsory elective modules in Cyber Security Methods (minimum 28 credit points) and Computer Science (minimum 12 credit points), along with a study project, totalling 54 credit points. Each semester carries 30 credit points for a total of 120. An industrial internship is available to allow students to apply subject knowledge in a professional environment. The programme is delivered in small groups and entry is in the winter semester. Graduates are prepared to design, implement, and manage cyber security concepts, develop new methods for protecting IT systems and critical infrastructures, and contribute to research and industry roles. The programme is based at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg in Cottbus, Germany.
