About Master in Cybersecurity Risk and Compliance

Cyber security addresses the protection of digital assets against evolving threats, the legal obligations surrounding personal data, and the governance frameworks that guide organisational risk management. The course examines threat mitigation, encryption, and the implementation of frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and COBIT, preparing students to meet both technical and regulatory demands.

Students spend each week analysing case studies, configuring security architectures, working with SIEM tools, and drafting compliance documentation. The research methods module teaches them how to design and evaluate investigations, while a final project integrates technical and regulatory knowledge into a practical solution. Throughout the semester, learners engage with industry-standard platforms, produce risk assessments, and develop reports that satisfy legal and organisational requirements.

  • Research Method in IT (5 credits) introduces modern research techniques for computing.
  • Data Protection – Law and Compliance (15 credits) covers GDPR and the role of Data Protection Officers.
  • Cyber Security Architecture and Secure Information and Event Management provide hands-on labs with real-world tools.
  • CyberSecurity Governance, Risk and Compliance (10 credits) explores frameworks such as COBIT, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF.
