Master in Data Science

At Università degli Studi di Padova, tuition fees are 2,890 EUR per year.

Data science is an interdisciplinary field that draws on statistics, computer science, and mathematics to extract insight from large and complex datasets. This master's programme in Data Science is taught in English at the Universita degli Studi di Padova, located in Padova, Italy, and lasts two years. Students in this field typically study programming, database systems, machine learning, and statistical modelling, alongside methods for data collection, cleaning, and visualization. Coursework often addresses how to design algorithms that identify patterns in data, evaluate their accuracy, and communicate findings to non-technical audiences. Many programmes also cover the ethical and legal dimensions of working with data, including privacy, bias, and the responsible use of automated decision-making systems. Because data now underpins decisions across nearly every sector, data science curricula tend to include applied projects drawn from areas such as healthcare, finance, marketing, logistics, and the natural sciences, giving students practice translating abstract methods into real-world analysis. Graduates commonly go on to work as data scientists, data analysts, machine learning engineers, or business intelligence specialists, and some continue toward research roles or doctoral study in computer science or statistics. The skill set developed in this field, including programming in languages used for data analysis, statistical reasoning, and familiarity with large-scale computing tools, is valued across both technology companies and traditional industries building analytics capacity. Studying in Padova offers exposure to Italy's academic tradition in quantitative disciplines. As the programme is delivered in English, it is structured to welcome international students pursuing this degree in Italy.
