Database Technology for Educators

Teaching computing in schools now requires educators to understand how data is stored and accessed. Database technology underpins many modern applications, and teachers need to know how relational databases work, how to design them, and how to retrieve information with SQL.

This 10-credit special purpose level-8 award is delivered as a blended, part-time programme over one semester. Students attend the Donegal – Letterkenny campus while completing online components. The core module, Database Technology, guides learners through the database environment, relational design, integrity rules and practical SQL data-manipulation.

Assessment combines practical assignments with two written examinations held in January and May. The course is aimed at teachers who hold a BSc (Hons) or equivalent qualification and wish to add database skills to their teaching repertoire.
