Graduates are qualified to work as licensed dental hygienists with expanded career options in clinical, educational, and administrative roles. The programme is designed for currently licensed dental hygienists seeking a bachelor’s degree. It builds on existing clinical experience with additional coursework in liberal arts and advanced dental hygiene topics. The program is the only bachelor’s degree completion option for dental hygienists offered at a community college in Texas.

The programme requires completion of additional credits beyond an associate degree, with coursework distributed across liberal arts and professional dental hygiene subjects. It is structured to be completed in as few as one or two years.

Graduates pursue careers in clinical practice, dental education, public health, research, and healthcare administration.

Applicants must be currently licensed dental hygienists. A separate application to the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene programme is required. Admission is limited and not guaranteed by open admissions status.

The programme totals about 120 credit hours. On-campus, part-time or full-time, typically completed in one to two years. For international students, tuition is well below the median for US programmes.

Located in Tyler, Texas, Tyler Junior College occupies a 145-acre campus with classrooms, residential facilities, athletics, fine and performing arts, clubs, and student organizations. Students can prepare for transfer through an Associate of Art in General Studies or pursue career-focused study in areas such as nursing, dental hygiene, automotive technology, computer science, engineering design technology, criminal justice, culinary arts, and welding. TJC also offers the only Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene offered by a Texas community college.

Campus life includes more than 40 student clubs and organizations, intramural sports, leadership programs, theatre, music, the Apache Band, Apache Belles, and Apache Athletics.
