About Master in Département Image

For Master in Département Image, tuition costs 458 EUR per year, while applications close 2026-01-14.

The Image (Cinematography) département is one of the seven specializations of La Fémis's four-year cursus principal. It is run by directors Sabine Lancelin, Bruno Delbonnel and Mathieu Giombini and admits six students per intake through the concours général.

Teaching covers the theoretical foundations needed to understand cinematography as a craft — optics, photochemistry, digital cinema, colorimetry, lighting and electricity — alongside practical exercises and meetings with working cinematographers, camera operators and assistants. Cross-department shoots let Image students practise the roles they are training for and learn to collaborate with a director and the rest of a crew.

The stated aim is to train image professionals, with graduates typically first entering the industry as camera assistants.

English Test Requirement

Taught in French; French-language proficiency is mandatory for admission (exams and teaching are conducted in French). No English-language test required.
