Master in Département Réalisation

The Réalisation (Directing) département is one of the seven specializations of La Fémis's four-year cursus principal. It is run by directors Julie Bertuccelli and Christine Carrière and admits six students per intake through the concours général.

Over the four years, directing students make a series of set-brief exercises and more personal short fiction and documentary projects. Each production is used to deepen a student's command of screenplay writing (alone or in collaboration), location scouting, casting, work with a set designer, managing a shoot, sound direction, dailies analysis, and directing actors on set; students also learn to oversee a mix and a colour grade.

A second strand of the programme is the development of a feature-length screenplay, with the aim of giving each student a project they could realistically direct as a first feature soon after graduating.
