About Master in Département Scénario

Applications close 2026-01-14, and tuition costs 458 EUR per year.

The Scénario (Screenwriting) département is one of the seven specializations of La Fémis's four-year cursus principal, the school's core diploma programme. It is run by directors Philippe Lasry and Yves Thomas and admits six students per intake through the shared concours général.

Teaching is organised around the writing of four feature-length screenplays over the four years, each written in response to a set brief under the supervision of a professional screenwriter acting as workshop leader (maître d'atelier). Alongside these writing projects, students work through classical dramaturgy fundamentals and take part in table-read workshops with actors to test tone and character. Scénario students also co-write short-form exercises with students from the Réalisation département.

By the end of the four years, students are expected to be able to originate, structure and rewrite a narrative of any length through to a shooting draft.

English Test Requirement

Taught in French; French-language proficiency is mandatory for admission (exams and teaching are conducted in French). No English-language test required.
