Master in Dept. of Opto-electronic Engineering

For Master in Dept. of Opto-electronic Engineering, tuition costs 53,400 TWD per year.

The Department of Opto-electronic Engineering at National Dong Hwa University, located in Eastern Taiwan, offers a master's degree program taught in English. Opto-electronic engineering is a specialized branch of electrical engineering that focuses on devices and systems that interact with light, combining principles of optics and electronics to study and design technologies such as lasers, photodetectors, optical fibers, displays, and light-emitting devices. Students in this field build a foundation in physics and electrical engineering, then study how light and electronic signals interact within devices, covering topics such as semiconductor physics, photonics, optical communication systems, and the design and fabrication of optoelectronic components. Coursework often includes laboratory work with optical and electronic instrumentation, giving students hands-on experience in testing and characterizing devices that generate, detect, or manipulate light. The discipline connects closely with fields such as telecommunications, where optical fibers carry data across networks, and display and sensor technology, where light-based devices are central to consumer electronics. Because opto-electronic technology underlies many components of modern communication and electronic systems, training in this field prepares students to work at the intersection of optics and electronics engineering. Graduates of opto-electronic engineering programs pursue careers in industries such as semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, telecommunications, optical communications, display technology, and sensor development, working as design engineers, process engineers, or research and development specialists. Others take positions in research laboratories focused on advancing photonic or optoelectronic technology. Some graduates continue into doctoral study to pursue deeper specialization in photonics or optoelectronic device research. As an English-taught master's program based in Eastern Taiwan, this degree is designed for students seeking graduate-level training in opto-electronic engineering within a Taiwanese academic and technology-oriented research setting.
