Design Thinking and Doing

This minor is designed for students who are eager to tackle societal challenges through innovative thinking. The Design Thinking and Doing program spans one semester and is taught in English, making it accessible to international students. Participants will engage in hands-on projects that connect them with local organizations in the Zeeland region, allowing them to apply their creativity in real-world contexts.

Throughout the program, students will learn the Design Thinking methodology, which emphasizes understanding user needs and collaborative problem-solving. The curriculum includes working on projects that may involve smart mobility, biodiversity, and sustainability initiatives. Students will develop skills in empathy, brainstorming, and experimentation, all while utilizing the HZ Studio toolkit to guide their projects through the phases of Discover, Define, Develop, and Deliver.

Graduates of this minor can pursue various roles such as Design Thinkers, Innovation Consultants, Project Managers, or Sustainability Coordinators. They will be well-prepared for careers in sectors like environmental consultancy, urban planning, and social entrepreneurship. The skills gained are transferable, equipping students to adapt to diverse industries and challenges.
