Bachelor in DEUST - Formation de base aux métiers du théâtre

At Aix-Marseille Université - Site d'Aix-en-Provence, tuition fees are 178 EUR per year.

Formation de base aux metiers du theatre is a DEUST program, a type of short professional higher education diploma in the French system oriented toward direct entry into a specific occupational field, in this case the theatre and performing arts sector. Unlike a purely academic performing arts degree, this program is built around foundational, practice-oriented training for the range of jobs involved in staging live theatre productions, covering areas such as acting fundamentals, stage technique, technical production skills including lighting, sound, and set work, and the general organization and functioning of a theatre production from rehearsal through performance. Students typically gain hands-on experience through practical workshops and production exercises, working alongside coursework that introduces the history and vocabulary of theatre practice, so that graduates understand both the creative and logistical sides of putting on a show. The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level technical and production roles within the theatre and live performance industry, rather than for a purely academic path, though some graduates go on to further specialized training in acting, directing, or technical theatre disciplines. Career directions associated with this kind of training include stagehand and technical crew roles, assistant stage management, production support, and general theatre technician positions within theatres, festivals, and touring productions. This program is offered at Aix-Marseille Universite, on its Aix-en-Provence site, located in Aix-en-Provence, France. It runs over three years, has an inferred start date in September, is taught in French, and carries a yearly tuition of 178 EUR.
