About the Program

The Digital Engineering Master's programme at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is a four-semester degree combining expertise from Civil Engineering and Computer Science and Media. The programme addresses digitally connected systems across industrial production, covering the full value chain from planning and design through to production and product monitoring. The curriculum is built around 120 ECTS credits distributed across six areas: Fundamentals (18 ECTS), Engineering Methods (36 ECTS), Computer Science Methods (18 ECTS), Electives (12 ECTS), a Research Project (12 ECTS), and a Master's module (24 ECTS). Coursework centres on computer-aided modelling, simulation, and visualisation of engineering problems, alongside information theory methods for data generation and handling. The elective module allows students to select courses from other departments, including media studies, media art and design, architecture, and art and design. The third semester is particularly flexible and is suited to a semester abroad. Current research questions are jointly defined and supervised with industry partners. The Digital Bauhaus Lab supports this research work. The fourth semester is reserved for the Master's thesis. To register for the thesis, students must demonstrate English at C1 and German at A1; the programme offers advanced English classes up to C1 and German language courses. The programme is based at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Weimar, Germany.
