Master in Digital Systems and Design, Bachelor and Master (3+2 yrs)

Tuition is 12,000 EUR per year. Applications are due 2026-01-22.

Digital Systems and Design combines electrical engineering with design thinking, giving students a dual focus on complex systems and engineering design principles. The curriculum covers networking, control and automation, photonics and optical communications, estimation and learning, electronic circuits, and electronic prototyping, with programming languages including Python, C++, C, MATLAB, and Scala. Students develop skills in the analysis, design, and optimisation of complex systems, alongside practical programming expertise across languages relevant to industry. Design thinking and prototyping are woven through the programme, developing engineering capabilities that translate directly into technical solutions. The programme also includes management skills, project and teamwork experience through industrial or industry-related projects, and training in presenting ideas to peers and industry stakeholders. By the end of the bachelor's component, students have a grounding in modelling and analysis of systems and in computer networks. The combined bachelor and master path runs for five years, starting in September 2026. The programme is based at Aalto University in Espoo, Finland.
