Diploma in Biomedical Science

The Diploma in Biomedical Science covers human biology, health and disease through core science modules and laboratory practice. Students study biochemistry, microbiology and genetics before choosing among later specialisations in Medical Technology, Cardiac Technology or Biomedical Research, each aimed at a distinct healthcare or research career track. The three-year course opens with Biochemistry & Cell Biology and Microbiology & Genetics, moves through Clinical Chemistry, and closes with a chosen specialisation track plus practical laboratory training and a work placement. Graduates take up roles in hospital laboratories, biomedical research and diagnostics companies, and the diploma is also used as a pathway toward medicine and medical technology degrees; SP's planned intake for 2026 is 62 places.
