Doctoral Programme in Psychology and Logopaedics (4 yrs)

The Doctoral Programme in Psychology and Logopaedics prepares students for research, teaching, and expert roles in both academic and broader societal contexts. The programme is organized into two streams. The Doctoral Programme in Psychology gives students an in-depth view of psychology as a discipline — its development, core problems, research methods, and social significance — and develops the capacity to apply scientific research methods independently to produce new psychological knowledge and applications. The Doctoral Programme in Logopedics focuses on the field of logopaedics, with research concentrated on communication and interaction, particularly speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders in Finnish populations, their prevention, and the effectiveness of rehabilitation. The education prepares candidates to translate findings from basic research into rehabilitation development. Both streams lead to an in-depth scientific view of the respective field, the ability to supervise students, and the skills to lead research groups.
