The Doctorat Information géographique et applications is based in the Lyon Saint-Étienne (LSE) laboratory, a joint research unit of the University of Lyon.

The program emphasises spatial data analysis, geomatics, spatial planning, and environmental monitoring. Students benefit from collaboration with regional partners including GEO2D, the French National Geographic Institute (IGN), and the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA).
