Bachelor in Early Childhood Education

This program prepares students to teach and care for young children, combining child development theory with pedagogy suited to early learners. Coursework covers cognitive, social, and emotional development in young children, along with curriculum design, play-based learning methods, and strategies for supporting language and early literacy development. Students study how to create supportive learning environments for children from infancy through the early school years, including approaches to classroom organization, family engagement, and inclusive practices for children with diverse needs. Supervised practicum experience in preschool and kindergarten settings gives students direct, hands-on exposure to working with young children, applying theoretical knowledge in real early-childhood classrooms. The program also addresses assessment methods appropriate for young learners and the design of activities that support developmental milestones. Graduates become early childhood educators in preschools, kindergartens, and childcare settings, and some pursue further study in child development or educational sciences. This bachelor program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Middle East Technical University, a state institution located in Ankara, Turkey.
