Bachelor in Early Childhood Studies

Applicants who already hold a UK or NI Level 5 qualification in Early Years and wish to earn a full Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Early Childhood Studies will find this add-on programme suitable. It is aimed at those ready to enter the final two years of a four-year degree, building on existing knowledge and practical experience in early childhood settings.

The programme is delivered in partnership with North West Regional College, allowing study on the Letterkenny campus while completing placements that apply the Republic of Ireland’s Aistear framework and the national Quality Framework Síolta, plus optional international placements with Queen Maud University in Norway. Modules cover communication, developmental psychology, family support, research processes and practical placement, and examine language, literacy, numeracy, creative expression and the physical, emotional and social development of children. This combination prepares graduates for professional roles such as early years educator, child-care manager or policy advisor across the Republic and Northern Ireland.
