Istanbul Medeniyet University

Bachelor in Economics

İstanbul, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Economics is the study of how scarce resources are produced, distributed, and consumed, spanning microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, and econometrics as well as applied fields like international trade, public finance, and financial markets. Students build a foundation in mathematical and statistical methods before moving into quantitative modeling and data-driven analysis of economic behavior. The curriculum typically covers how households, firms, and governments make decisions under constraints, how prices and markets coordinate activity, and how policy interventions affect outcomes at both national and global scales. Advanced coursework often includes electives in development economics, monetary policy, industrial organization, or behavioral economics, allowing students to align their studies with interests in research, finance, or public administration. Because economics develops strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills, graduates find opportunities across banking, consulting, government service, research institutions, and corporate planning departments. Case studies, applied projects, and data analysis exercises are common throughout the program, connecting theoretical models to observable economic events. This 4-year bachelor's degree is taught in English at Istanbul Medeniyet University in Istanbul, Turkey, giving students access to international economics scholarship and preparing them for study or work in English-speaking professional environments. Istanbul's role as a major commercial and financial center bridging Europe and Asia provides students with direct exposure to active markets, trade flows, and financial institutions, complementing the academic material covered in lectures and seminars across the four years of the program.
