Bachelor in Education (Art and Design and Communication Graphics)

Art and Design and Communication Graphics education asks how visual creativity can be taught, how digital media intersect with traditional craft, and how teachers can support diverse learners in post-primary settings. This four-year honours degree blends subject mastery with pedagogical training, delivering the skills and knowledge required to teach both Art and Design and Communication Graphics in Irish secondary schools.

From the first semester students explore the Creative Disciplines – Art and Design module, practising painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and textiles while building a studio-based portfolio. Parallel modules in Visual Culture, Design Process and Technical Graphics develop critical analysis, design thinking and technical drawing skills. Each year includes a school placement, allowing candidates to apply theory in inclusive classrooms under expert supervision. Small group tuition and continuous assessment prepare graduates to meet Teaching Council standards.
