Graduates are prepared to pursue teaching certification or further study in education. The programme focuses on the U.S. education system, critical pedagogies, and equity in learning. Students engage with theory and practice through coursework and a required internship. The curriculum emphasizes race, gender, class, and identity in educational contexts.

Focus areas include U.S. Education System, Critical Pedagogies, Literacy and Learning, LGBTQ+ Identities in Schools, History of African American Education, Philosophy of Education.

Students must complete a course trajectory plan and meet with department faculty before declaring the major. The major requires PSYC 100 and EDUC 213 as prerequisites. Students must be at senior standing to enroll in EDUC 421.
