Energy and Mechanical Engineering brings together the classical foundations of mechanical engineering with focused study of how energy is generated, converted, stored, and used efficiently. Students in this field typically work through thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and machine design, then apply these principles to power systems, renewable energy technologies, and industrial equipment. Laboratory work and computational modeling are usually paired with lecture-based coursework so that theory is tested against measured performance in areas such as combustion, refrigeration, turbomachinery, and solar or wind energy conversion. Because energy efficiency and sustainability are central concerns across manufacturing, transportation, and utilities, graduates from programs in this discipline commonly move into design and analysis roles at engineering firms, power generation companies, automotive and heavy-equipment manufacturers, and research institutes, as well as into further academic research. The Energy and Mechanical Engineering program at Gyeongsang National University is offered as a doctoral (PhD) course of study, taught in English, based in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.
