Master in Environmental engineering

Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) offers a master's specialization in Environmental Engineering called Information Systems in Water Resources Management, taught in English over four semesters. The specialization focuses on the scientific analysis of the physical, environmental, technical, socio-economic, and legal aspects of water resources management, aiming to give students an understanding of these aspects and how they interact, along with the ability to devise sustainable and technically effective solutions to water resources problems. The application of information systems plays an important role in reaching this aim. The taught programme is organized into five thematic blocks: Hydrological Processes, Water Management, Information Systems, Mathematical Modelling, and Governance. In the first year, subjects include Statistics, Environmental Chemistry, Spatial Planning, Reliability and Safety of Engineering Systems, Environmental Management, Proecological Technologies, Environmental Monitoring, Technology and Management of Construction Engineering, Environmental Information Systems, Soil Physics and Hydrology, Advanced Hydrology, Advanced Meteorology, Water Reservoirs, and Land and Water Development. In the second year, subjects include Pollution and Protection of Water, River Hydromorphology and Restoration, Remote Sensing Techniques, Surface Water Modelling, Wastewater Management, Environmental Geotechnics, Groundwater Flow Modelling, a Diploma Seminar, Optimisation Techniques, and Economy of Water Resources, among further water-related coursework. This kind of specialization prepares graduates for technical and analytical roles in water resource agencies, environmental consultancies, and infrastructure planning bodies, combining hands-on engineering training with geographic information systems and data modelling skills. Warsaw University of Life Sciences is one of Poland's established institutions for agricultural and environmental sciences, giving the programme a strong disciplinary base for water and land management study.
