Master in Ethnology

The master's programme in Ethnology, with a focus on Speciality Differences and Transitional Processes, is offered by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland. Ethnology and social and cultural anthropology examine how societies organize themselves, produce meaning and respond to change, using methods that combine fieldwork, archival research and comparative analysis. Students in this programme are trained in these methods with a particular emphasis on the post-socialist transformations of Central and Eastern Europe, an area where Poznan's ethnology department has built up long-standing expertise. Graduates typically go on to careers in research, cultural heritage institutions, international organisations, journalism, or further doctoral study in anthropology or related social sciences. The CREOLE mobility option also gives graduates a network of contacts and comparative experience across several European academic centres, adding to the value of the degree for careers with an international dimension.
