Europa Master, also known as Weimar Studies, is a trinational master's programme in European Studies offered in part by the University of Opole, in Opole, Poland. Taught in English over four semesters, the programme awards three master's diplomas from three partner universities: the University of Opole (Poland), Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (Germany), and the University of Burgundy (France). Classes are taught to an international group of students and jointly administered by the Institute of Political Science at the University of Opole, the Institute of Political Science at the University of Mainz, and the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Burgundy in Dijon. During the first semester in Opole, coursework focuses on the cultural and social dimension of European integration, along with a Central and Eastern European perspective on that integration; these classes are taught in English. The second semester, in Mainz, is dedicated to European politics and political science, also taught in English. The third semester, in Dijon, focuses on European law and European institutions, with courses taught in French. This trinational structure gives students direct exposure to three national academic traditions and, through the shift from English- to French-taught coursework, a multilingual dimension to their studies. Graduates leave with three separate diplomas recognised by each partner institution, a feature that sets this programme apart among European studies degrees. Career paths typically include EU institutions, national and regional government, diplomacy, political research, journalism and further doctoral study in political science or European studies.
