The Foundation Course in Global and Development Studies is a starting point for European Master in Global Studies (EMGS) students. This 2-year Erasmus Mundus master's programme, coordinated by Universität Leipzig, offers students a collaborative environment across six universities, including Roskilde University. Graduates develop advanced theoretical and methodological knowledge on the interplay between international politics, international political economy, and international social transformations, addressing challenges such as the impact of great power rivalry on Western military interventions and the tensions in trade relations between Europe, the USA, and China.

From day one, the curriculum is interwoven with small group projects and a focus on interactive teaching methods, with a strong emphasis on academic discussions. The programme culminates in a comprehensive thesis and the acquisition of a Master of Science in Social Sciences (MSc) in Global and Development Studies from Roskilde University and another partner institution.
