    Introduction

North Dakota State University is North Dakota’s land-grant, R1 research university. Its work connects academic study with practical challenges, workforce needs and career development. Students and faculty collaborate on research and creative activity in labs, fields and studios, with opportunities to explore crop science, cybersecurity and other areas linked to industry. Internships and field-tested projects can help students build experience alongside their coursework.

Academic options include undergraduate and graduate programs, degree-completion routes for students building on previous credits, and flexible online programs. Students can search programs by level, subject, type and format, allowing them to compare different ways to study. NDSU’s research activity also includes extension and industry relations, creating connections between campus learning and work beyond the university.

The main campus is in Fargo, a city described as big enough to explore and small enough to feel like home. Campus life includes Welcome Week, student activities and the Bison community, with opportunities for new students to connect and get involved at the start of the semester. Athletics are part of the institution’s identity, with Bison teams bringing a strong sense of campus pride. International students can consider the available undergraduate, graduate and online pathways while exploring study and campus life in Fargo.
