About the Program

The Master's Programme in Finance and Information Management (FIM) at the Technical University of Munich covers four interconnected areas: Computational Analytics, Quantitative Finance, Information Management, and Financial Management. The programme is designed to develop both financial and digital expertise — technical, quantitative, and managerial — and the depth of study in any of the four areas is comparable to a specialised degree in that field. The first two semesters address fundamentals of finance and strategic financial management, the potential of digitalisation and business analytics, machine learning, digital innovation and transformation, and mathematical, stochastic, and econometric methods for modelling financial management problems. The third semester is focused on elective courses across the four core areas. The Master's thesis is completed in the fourth semester. An optional Certificate of Research, Leadership, and Social Responsibility is available alongside the degree, incorporating one-on-one mentoring, a supervised research project, and a social project. The programme admits students with strong quantitative backgrounds in economics, industrial engineering, business and information systems engineering, information systems, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields. It starts in the winter semester and requires applicants from outside Germany to apply through uni-assist in addition to TUMonline.
